Resulting from the division of what was previously a two lot single family home site, the Waitzer Residence was built in conjunction with the adjoining Lance Residence, both Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area (CBPA) sites. WPL provided the land surveying, CBPA site plan and design, CBPA planting design and construction administration for the project. The Waitzer residence’s site design incorporated a site sensitive approach to stormwater management. The system collects rain water and distributes it throughout the site into small depressions called “rain gardens”. The design also transformed a woodland setting into a woodland garden with multiple varieties of understory trees, shrubs, and groundcovers helped improve the quality of rainwater runoff prior to reaching the tributary of the Chesapeake Bay. The Waitzer Residence is a great example of WPL’s landscape design capabilities in site planning, planting design, site lighting design, and irrigation design.
