WPL was instrumental in the site design for the new Chesapeake Beach Fire and EMS Station in Virginia Beach, Virginia. WPL provided services for survey, conceptual design, and final site design. With this project seeking LEED certification, the site will utilize sustainable techniques such as: bioretention for stormwater management/treatment, native plantings which will not require irrigation, and concrete pavement to aid in lowering the non-roof heat island effect. Public utilities were available for this project, and did not require any upgrades to the existing infrastructure. In addition, the planting design was required to adhere to the Shore Drive Corridor Design Guidelines.
